SBIFF 39 - Variety Artisans Award
Santa Barbara, CA – The Santa Barbara International Film Festival is set to host a unique celebration of cinematic craftsmanship with the Variety Artisans Award on Sunday, February 11, 2024. This year's event, marking a decade of partnership with Variety, will be held at the Arlington Theater, shining a spotlight on the creative talents who have significantly contributed to the film industry in various disciplines.
The honorees, representing a diverse range of expertise, include Stephane Ceretti for Visual Effects in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3," songwriting duo Billie Eilish and Finneas for their work in "Barbie," and Ludwig Göransson for his composition in "Oppenheimer." The tribute also recognizes Sarah Greenwood and Katie Spencer for Production and Set Design in "Barbie," Kazu Hiro for Hairstyling/Makeup in "Maestro," Jennifer Lame for Editing in "Oppenheimer," Rodrigo Prieto for Cinematography in "Killers of the Flower Moon," Michael Semanick for Re-recording Mixing in "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," and Holly Waddington for Costume Design in "Poor Things."
Jazz Tangcay from Variety, the event's moderator, emphasizes the vital role of artisans in the entertainment industry, particularly highlighted during the writers' and actors' strike in 2023.
