Iconic actor, writer, producer, and comedy legend Will Ferrell will be honored with the prestigious 17th annual Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film. Presented by the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF), this accolade celebrates lifelong contributors to the world of cinema. The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at a Black-Tie dinner held at the Ritz-Carlton Bacara in Santa Barbara.

Proceeds from the event will benefit SBIFF’s year-round educational programs. Michael Douglas, son of the late Kirk Douglas, praised Ferrell’s talents, stating, "Comedy is the hardest and you make it look easy, Will. Congratulations! Dad loved you!"

Established in 2006, the Kirk Douglas Award has previously been bestowed upon cinematic luminaries such as Ryan Gosling, Michelle Yeoh, Martin Scorsese, Hugh Jackman, Dame Judi Dench, Warren Beatty, Jane Fonda, Jessica Lange, Forest Whitaker, Robert De Niro, Michael Douglas, Harrison Ford, Quentin Tarantino, Ed Harris, and John Travolta. This year, the honor highlights Ferrell’s remarkable impact on the film industry and his exceptional comedic legacy.
